Good points:
The Location on the north side of the Bath Road (A4) west of the M4 airport spur is quite convenient and emerging from the hotel it is generally possible to turn right ( for terminals 4 and 5) as well as left. We did this at 7.45pm and commented on how useful it was thinking "it won't be possible when it's busy", but at 7.30am the traffic light timings half a mile up the road meant it was.
The Rooms are comfy and quite spacious in spite of having old fashioned TV, there are Gilchrist & Soames toileteries in the bathrooms, and although they make a big thing about having granite surfaces in the bathrooms I was unmoved by them.
The Lift was efficient - on the ground floor you swipe your room card and it calls the lift. It also didn't have a stupid computer telling you "Doors opening", just radio London on quietly.
The Sports Bar is most civilised. Yes, there is a huge screen, but it was showing cricket, and quietly. There's also a pool table but tucked away in one corner so non pool players don't have to squeeze past to use the loos for instance.
The Restaurant has friendly, if rather haphazard service. We were asked for our drinks order 3 times, and when I ordered Caesar salad with king prawns, Caesar salad with chicken arrived. it looked good so I decided to stick with it, and 5 minutes later was brought a complimentary bowl of prawns. I was thus able to determine that chicken definitely goes with Caesar salad better than prawns! Nick, having eaten on the plane, wanted only a snack so ordered devilled whitebait from the starter menu. These were excellent; crisply fried, sprinkled with paprika and served with lemon and a tartare sauce dip.
The shop in the lobby for times when an airline has lost your bag (yes they did!) or you've forgotten the toothpaste.
Bad points:
Shuttle bus service - there isn't one
Car park is likely to be full if you arrive late; parking charge.
No pool only a gym.
Neutral points
Extremely variable in price - a late room deal can be anywhere from £54 to over £100. We paid £69 (plus £8 parking) for a Wednesday night booked about 3 weeks in advance (same room booked week before was £99), with food and drink £107 total.
